Job Summary: 

It has now been over two year since the influx of Rohingya people to Kutupalong-Balukhali (Ukhiya & Teknaf) of Cox’s Bazar district in Bangladesh. To respond to this crisis, ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) provided support to Rohingya people in two sectors, one is Site management, and another is protection. The 2018 Joint Response Plan for Rohingya Humanitarian Crisis also notes the ‘serious protection needs like psychosocial distress, neglect and abuse’ for children, and an ‘immense and urgent need to provide mental health and psychosocial support for refugees of all ages’. As part of protection services, AAB has been providing psychosocial counselling service to Rohingya women and girls in the established Multi-Purpose Women Centers (MPWC) with fund assistance from UNWOMEN since August 2018. Next year, AAB is going to expand this service for Rohingya women and adolescent girls as well with establishment of a MPWCs. The UNWOMEN funded project has therefore been designed to address the urgent need for life skill training (Women empowerment) program for Rohingya women and adolescent girls.

 

Key responsibilities include (not limited to):

  • Overall management, supervision and monitoring of livelihood activities & production;
  • Regular Coordination and linkage with Donor, sector and government counterpart;
  • Ensure proper management of produced materials;
  • Identify need of purchasing materials and initiating procurement process for production;
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques;
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, sorting, and analyzing production performance records-data;
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment;
  • Initiate innovative idea for design and select the best idea;
  • FGD with Rohingya women and girls for identification of interested livelihood trade;
  • Provide training on the innovation and building the capacity of training participants;
  • Involve the training participants in production;
  • Ensure the quality of the product that produced by the training participants;
  • Develop business plan on the innovation and implementation;
  • Building capacity of the participants regarding business plan;
  • Monitoring the project activities and prepare report and documentation as per requirements;
  • Make available the raw materials and equipment at the training center;
  • Sourcing and mobilizing for market linkage for program participants;
  • Any other specific area of responsibilities assigned by the project management;

 

Relationships

The person holds this position, will be directly reportable to Protection & Livelihood Coordinator of UN Women Project.

 

Required Educational Qualification and Experiences

Education

  • A university degree, preferably a graduate degree in relevant subject areas, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Management. Experience in the design sector will also be considered favourably.      


Experience

  • At least 3 years or more of sound experience in training especially with focus on skills development and business in refugee response and coordination.


Required Competencies 

  • Clear understanding of of & business, training &market development;
  • Experience in facilitating trainings and workshops and mentoring others;
  • Familiar with Curriculum development based on Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) guideline/ Department of Women Affairs guideline;
  • In depth knowledge of HRBA and gender-based programming, Rohingya language and culture;
  • Good interpersonal skills including ability to gain trust and build relationships and experience in working with community people;
