We have a global pool of international, highly skilled young trainers, and through our Activista global youth movement we engage with thousands of youth volunteers aspiring to create social change in more than 25 countries. Currently we have Global Platforms in Denmark, El Salvador, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Myanmar, Jordan and Palestine.


Job Summary:

Overall Objective:

We work towards building capacity, connecting people and cause and inspire action. We promote progressive social, political and economic change in the region by supporting youth led movements, youth networks, organisations.


General functions of this role:

This role will oversee and contribute to all the capacity development interventions taking place based at Global Platform Bangladesh (GPB) and Localised Youth Hub (LYH). The incumbent will ensure proper planning, coordination, quality deliverables according to the programme and new projects. S/he will be supporting the team and key stakeholders to develop youth led social movements and networks from local to national level. Along with that the Manager will also capitalize on existing partnership and develop new partnership for enhancing youth led innovation towards sustainability, programmatically and resource mobilization. S/he will also closely work with the ActionAid Bangladesh Programme Priorities and Organizational Priorities to explore the further work opportunities for achieving the AAB’s Country Strategy Paper V.

 

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Planning, coordinating, supporting and reporting of the capacity development interventions (25%) 

  • Develop annual and quarterly work plans and budget, support the team to development their individual plan, coordinate with AAB Youth Programme for planning and implementation of ActionAid Denmark Funded Project/s and beyond.  
  • Support the trainers/coordinator to development detailed capacity development and youth hub activity plan and developing the effective KPI and relevant facilitation as well as monitoring tools.
  • Compile and develop reports on the monitoring, evaluation, and implementation status to be submitted to AAB and Donor where applicable.
  • Maintain regular communication with the GP global secretariate for GPB programme development and overall coordination and sharing.
  • Collaborate with the ActionAid Bangladesh Focal working on the AADK funded project on young people for synchronised and quality implementation of programme and projects.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with AAB, especially the Youth teams and projects to ensure that GP is proactive to provide capacity development support as and how required.

 

Ensuring the Quality of the capacity development intervention and showcasing (25%) 

  • Overall guidance and support to ensuring quality, effectiveness and contextualizing to Bangladesh (and the region). Ensure trainings, toolkits and manuals maintains professional standard and can be utilised effectively in a participatory way. Facilitate capacity development cycle and learning principles to the staff members and key stakeholders for enhancing the quality of interventions.   
  • Maintain regular communication with GP secretariate, particularly with the Training Quality Coordinators (TQCs), for enhancing the quality of the capacity development intervention.
  • Support the team members proper documentation of the capacity development interventions and showcasing the outcome with the wider stakeholders.
  • Ensure continuous enhancing knowledge and skill of the trainers on the various thematic issues according to the projects.

 

Support to the National and Local Youth Hubs (25%) 

  • Support to develop national and local youth hub vibrant and safe space for the marginalized young people for leading social action through practicing learn-plan-act-reflect model.
  • Support team members to develop Associate Trainers Group (ATG) and support to enhance their capacity gradually on various themes and process.
  • Support to develop comprehensive youth hub plans for quality implementation and connecting across the level, from local to global.
  • Support team members to make LYH vibrant and to make the place as hub for promoting youth led Innovation for the grassroots young people. 
  • Develop and implement the strategy for adapting digital technologies for capacity development, networking, follow up, learning capturing and sharing.

 

Resource Mobilisation, promoting innovation and management of platform (25%)

  • Development of strategic partnerships and networks with respective Youth Platforms, INGOs/NGOs/UN agencies to promote GP Business modalities and also contribute to AAB’s youth engagement.
  • Create convenient environment based in GPB for promoting innovation under the leadership of young people.
  • Identify potential partners in the country/region with whom longer term program partnerships can be developed. 
  • Engage and support with the project development initiative in collaboration with fund raising department.
  • Ensure compliance with AAB and Government of Bangladesh.
  • Monitor the financial health of GPB and provide support to Admin and Finance as and when necessary.

 

Relationships

S/he will report to Project Manager - A4I Project of ActionAid Bangladesh. S/he has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers in the team, strategic and organisational priority team and project management team. S/he will also Maintain liaison and networking in ActionAid International / Federation.


Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field.
  • Training on program management and line management.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the field of programme management, development cooperation, youth programmes & campaigns preferably with an international, multilateral or public organization.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in international development programming, planning, delivering, report writing.
  • Past experience in resource mobilisation and networking is essential.

 

Required Competencies

Desirable 

  • Youth Rights Programming, community mobilization of young people
  • Design and delivery of programs/participatory training
  • Experience in the field of facilitation and training content development/delivery  
  • Working experience on the diverse capacity development intervention.
  • Sound knowledge on the youth issues in Bangladesh and organization working on and with the young people.
  • Strong networking with the youth led organizations and relevant networks.
  • Sound knowledge on project and financial management according to the project implementation cycle.
  • Motivated to identify and promote youth led innovation


General  

  • Experience of working on capacity building of civil society organizations;
  • Written, typing and communication skills in Bangla and English;
  • In depth knowledge of HRBA and gender based programming; and
  • Past experience in living and working in rural areas would be an advantage;
  • Willingness to undertake frequent field visits;
