Background

The project will work in such a way that builds women’s leadership and agency. The project will support them in tangible actions that would improve their capacity on CRSA and ensure access to local markets. This would eventually support them to ensure their food security and livelihood as well as economic empowerment that will enable them to take part in decision-making processes. The initiatives include training and support for women farmers on resilient farming technique (including soil conservation, crop diversity, seed banks and water management), inclusive value chain for market access and awareness on climate change impact and participatory decision-making.

The project will also include advocacy initiatives with the local level government offices and stakeholders (Agriculture Extension Office, Union Parishad, market committee) to establish a linkage to ensure support from them. The project will also initiate women and young women led campaign for the better implementation of national agricultural policy 2018 from local to national level.

The proposed project addresses system changes for climate justice of ActionAid Strategy Implementation Framework 2 by building knowledge and capacities of the most vulnerable local communities, particularly women and youth, on climate change and CRSA. The project intends to build resilience facilitating a green, feminist and just transition.

The proposed project also addresses system change for economic justice by engaging women farmers and young leaders on CRSA and market value chain through developing their capacity and leadership, enabling alternative economic opportunities, and thereby shifting the power to the local marginalized people.
