Online TV channel, ITV (International Television) published a report on the International Youth Day celebration by Badhon Manob Unnayan Sangstha (Badhon) in Bagerhat. There was a colorful rally from the District Commissioner’s office to celebrate the event. Later on a discussion meeting was held at Khan Jahan Ali College Auditorium chaired by Mir Sawkat Ali Badsha from Ministry of Fisheries And Livestock. Mr rishikesh das, deputy director from the Department of Youth Development of Bagerhat along with other guests attended the dialogue session as well, where the speakers talked about the issues young people face and how to address these.

Dialogue with Press media
One of the prominent TV channels in Bangladesh named Bangla Vision covered the dialogue with press media on technical education arranged by Badhon. In the channel’s local news segment they reported about the event held at Bagerhat press club auditorium where local journalists identified the problems in the technical education system and how to improve it.
Mass-hearing on self-employment and technical training
Online TV channel, ITV (International Television) published a report on the public hearing arranged by Badhon in Bagerhat on 7 November 2018. The event was chaired by the Citizen Committee Convener where the additional deputy commissioner, deputy director from the Bagerhat Department of Youth Development, youth development coordinator, president of the press club, local UP chairmans were present as well. The speakers talked about the self-employment opportunities and technical training for the young people.
Why young people are becoming more youthless
Pondering for the reason why ‘youth’ remains one of the most complex terms in human experience is because you can never really put your finger on it. Categorizing people by age is the most obvious demarcation that sets the young apart from their adult counterparts As a global society, we are weakening the power of the youth by treating them as a separate, “human-becoming” category. As a result, young people’s respect could never be earned, their true potential can never be realized and their voice could never be taken seriously.
At the foundational level there appear to be more similarities, than differences, between young people and adults. The International Youth Day in turn conveniently creates the youth bubble that further distances them from the rest of the population. Tens of thousands of events were organized around the world by young people to commemorate the occasion. A highlight among the events, 100 young people organized a bicycle rally and public speaking in Kushtia district, South-west of Bangladesh on the occasion. The objective of the rally was ultimately to raise their voice against state violation of social-safety related issues. Events such as this are necessary and can be an effective tool for certain political environments. However, when an issue is campaigned on youth day, it is all too often perceived as a ‘youth problem’, coming to no surprise that this is when those word clouds come in handy. While making the case for safe spaces is needed, the struggle is not specific to young people. These mentioned Bangladeshi youth are in fact part of a local organization called ALO, mandated to promote participatory democracy and social cohesion—the issues that concern us all. In the end, the International Youth Daydesignated by the United Nations in 1999 may seem noble as an effective symbolism and good political gesture, but in reality, it serves no practical purpose for young people.

Women rights and social harmony fair in Mirpur
The Daily Andoloner Bazar is a local online newspaper in Kushtia. The newspaper published a report on the women rights and social harmony fair held by the initiative of the Alo at Mirpur in Kushtia. The fair was held at the Chithilia secondary school ground on 25th November 2018. Rafiqul Islam, Mirpur police station officer-in–charge was the chief guest at the fair where many local estimable person were present as well. Debate competition, rural sports, drama and cultural programs were organised to promote women’s rights and social harmony.
Voice of Bangladesh: Bangladesh Election: The thoughts of youth
The Newsgarden24 is an online daily newspaper which published a report on the dialogue session organised by YPSA on December 17 2018. The dialogue with the theme “Election Manifesto: Thoughts of the Youth” was held at Chattogram press club where representatives from at least 20 social youth groups from Chattogram presented their proposals that they think the political parties should address in the election manifestos. President of BFUJ-Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Riaz Haider Chowdhury chaired the dialogue session where deputy Vice-Chancellor of Southern University, JSD central organizing secretary, south district LDP president and former president of Chittagong District Bar Association along with other prominent guests were present. The speakers ensured that the young people’s participation in sustainable development was very important. They urged the young prople to overcome all the hesitation and frustration and disappointment to build a prosperous future Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Protidin is one of the prominent national paper in Bangladesh. This paper also published a report on the dialogue session held on “Election Manifesto: Thoughts of the Youth” on December 17. In the dialogue, youth representatives of Chittagong have hoped for a youth friendly manifesto. They demanded for more attention to the political leadership in building sustainable development, adequate youth representation in parliament, entrepreneurship development, establishment of good governance, ensure good environment to stablish youth organizations, along with almost 50 proposals.

They reported that the youth representatives of Chittagong have hoped for a youth friendly manifesto. Young people demanded for more attention to the political leadership in building sustainable development, rich and humanitarian Bangladesh. National level dialogue on ` Informal Sectors Worker: Rights, Committee’s Management & Expectation’ (By SPED)
Alokito Bangladesh is a daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka. This newspaper published a report titled “Importance should be given to the workers from informal sectors” on a dialogue session arranged by SPED (strategic partner of A4I). The dialogue session was held on 10 December 2018 where Joint Inspector General from the Department of Labor and Employment along with Advocate of Bangladesh Supreme Court, academics, researchers, policy analysts, representatives of various labor organizations, development organizations and representatives of civil society were present. The speakers expressed their views on ‘Non-official labor: workers rights, organizational status and expectation’.

Bangladesher Khabor is a daily online newspaper. They also reported on the dialogue session organised by SPED. Speakers have expressed the opinion that the workers of the informal sector should also be given importance to take Bangladesh forward and they specifically pointed on the recruitment letter of the workers to be ensured.

Townhall Dialogue on “Inclusive Electoral Manifesto: Perspective of the Indigenous Youth” by IPDS
The Prothom Alo is arguably the most prominent bangla daily newspaper in Bangladesh. They reported on the town hall titled “Inclusive Electoral Manifesto: Perspective of the Indigenous Youth”, organised by Indigenous Peoples Development Services. Prothom alo published the report titled “Claim of reserved seats for youth in Parliament” where at the first phase of the event, the representatives of the young indigenous people presented 10 demands that they want the political parties to include in their manifestos for the eleventh parliamentary elections. Among the guests, the former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Mizanur Rahman criticized the revocation of all quota for the first and second class government jobs. Robayet Ferdous, Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism, Department of Dhaka University was the convener of the programme where the students of different minorities and youth of the country took part in it.
Election 2018: Manifesto for Youth (Roundtable – IID, Prothomalo)
The Prothom Alo is arguably the most prominent bangla daily newspaper in Bangladesh. There was a roundtable titled ‘Election 2018: Manifesto for Youth’ organized by Prothom Alo in collaboration with the Institute of Informatics and Development (IID) and ActionAid Bangladesh on 25th December 2018. Prothom alo published a report on the programme titled “Unimpeded opportunities of employment for youth”. Young voters from different spaces of the country participated in the event where they stated that they want to see employment opportunities and implementation of the youth policy; not only the development of urban youth, but also the development of young people from rural and marginal areas as well. The roundtable meeting was conducted by Associate Editor of Prothom Alo, Abdul Kaiyum in the presence of Farah Kabir, the CD of ActionAid Bangladesh; Mr. Nazmul Ahsan, manager of young people. The report quoted from 2 volunteers from Activista Bangladesh as well.
On 28 December 2018, Prothom Alo published a report in its supplement with the brief quoted discussions at the Roundtable titled ‘Election 2018: Manifesto for Youth’.
