Disaster risk management has become a crucial part in Cox’s Bazar, specially after the Rohingya crisis started. Extreme weather and natural disasters increase the vulnerability of both the Rohingya and host community requiring greater attention in this regard.

Besides responding to the Rohingya Crisis in Cox’s Bazar since the beginning, ActionAid Bangladesh is also working with the local people and the host community there. In continuation of its intervention, AAB, with the support of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh, organized a three-day training workshop with the Cox’s Bazar District Disaster Management Committee members.

Md. Harun or Rahshid Molla, Director (Training and Research), Additional Secretary of Department of Disaster Management addressed the workshop as the chief guest. During the workshop the participants discussed about the roles and responsibilities of the District Disaster Management Committee members during disasters.

Md. Ashraful Afsar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar and Trevor Daniel Clark, Head of UNDP’s Cox’s Bazar office were present as special guests.
