Considering the health safety and security of children, the Government of Bangladesh decided to close all educational institutions all over the country from March 2020. Similarly, ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) also limited the gathering of children and closure of Child Spaces at the community level. On the other hand, children are becoming tired of being at home for a long time and restricted scope to explore in outer space.

In this circumstance, to inspire their inner talent, creativity, and mental development, the Child Sponsorship Team from AAB arranged different fun and skill-building initiatives during this coronavirus pandemic. From such an endeavor, drawing training was organized for the children at LRP-48. In collaboration with Gouri Lalit Kala Academy, a well-known art and music school in Chattogram, AAB and its partner organization, Bright Bangladesh Forum (BBF), arranged 06 days long drawing training. Maintaining coronavirus preventive directives, 60 children and 04 Child Space Facilitators participated in the training.

Afroza (10), one of the participants of drawing training said, “It was much fun to take part in the drawing training. From this training, I have learned basic colors and the idea of mixing colors. I like to draw very much. Receiving the training, I felt that since I didn’t know the use of color properly, my drawing was not as accepted as I wanted. Now I have an idea of coloring. Hope that I can draw and color my drawing beautifully. I will share my learning with my fellow friends when the Child space will open when the pandemic time is over”.
