Summary of Global Platforms 

The Global Platforms provide innovative trainings and capacity development for young people to lead social, political and economic change around the world. Located in the regions where we can make a significant impact, ActionAid Global Platforms convenes a global network of locally managed, vibrant youth hubs offering a physical space for youth to meet, discuss and act together - a place where young people can exchange ideas with other peers in their efforts to create social change. We have a global pool of international, highly skilled young trainers, and through our Activista global youth movement we engage with thousands of youth volunteers aspiring to create social change in more than 25 countries. Currently we have Global Platforms in Denmark, El Salvador, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, Myanmar, Jordan and Palestine.


Job Summary:

Overall Objective:

We work towards building capacity, connecting people and cause and inspire action. We promote progressive social, political and economic change in the region by supporting youth led movements, youth networks, organisations.

General functions of this role:

This role will oversee all training programs and ensure, planning, coordination, monitoring, quality and project deliverables are implemented according to DANIDA funded youth program.  Part of this role will also capitalize on existing partnership and develop new partnership following the guidelines of AAB and DANIDA framework. Financial management, HR & Admin and communication.


Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Project Management (40%) 

  • Program Strategy: Develop annual and quarterly work plans, budgets for the GP; update the project description and activity plans and coordinate with the youth program and implement in coordination with the DANIDA funded youth program.
  • Overall guidance and support to ensuring training quality, effectiveness and contextualizing to Bangladesh (and the region) ensure trainings, toolkits and manuals are of a professional standard and can be utilized effectively. Ensure youth-hub, trainings and wider capacity development is planned, organized and delivered.
  • Maintain and report on the monitoring, evaluation and learning of the project, to ensure detailed and strategic reports for AAB annual reports, AADK DANIDA funded program reports and other donors as requested.
  • Facilitate the steering committee meetings providing detailed reports to inform decision making and strategy development.

 

Partnerships and Business Development (20%) 

  • Development of strategic partnerships and networks with INGOs/NGOs/UN and related institutions to promote GP Business modalities and also contribute to AAB’s youth engagement. 
  • Fundraising opportunities to be sought and partnerships and proposals to completed.
  • Maintain strong working relationship with AAB, especially the Youth teams and projects to ensure that GP is proactive and can facilitate as required capacity development.
  • Identify potential partners in the country/region with whom longer term program partnerships can be developed. 
  • Provide guidance and support to development of project concept notes, proposals that focus on youth engagement.
  • Contribute to AABs strategic objectives around youth engagement.
  • Manage team to increase venue rentals of the platform.
  • Research and initiate complimentary business development activities.


Financial Management (20%) 

  • Overall responsibility for the financial management, includes development of annual budgets, monthly accounting and quarterly reporting in line with AA processes and guidelines and reporting to AAB & AADK.
  • Ensure compliance with AAB and Government of Bangladesh.
  • Ensure funding from AADK arrives quarterly. Manage finance to track all income coming into the project and ensure it reflects in our account.
  • Develop realistic budgets and monitor income and expenditure.


HR and Admin (10%)

  • Line management, appraisals, professional development and capacity building of the team.
  • Work with HR team, to recruit strong team members as required for the team.
  • Plan team reviews and meetings to ensure lessons learnt best practice and coordination between the different team members.
  • Maintain safety and security protocols at the platform, ensure safety of participants, report incidents to AAB if they occur and implement control measures as decided.
  • Building management and maintenance of the structure, ensure contracts are in place and the building is well managed including generator, water, cleanliness.


Knowledge Management and Communication (10%) 

  • Creation of Communications and impact data and sharing widely to influence.
  • Contribute communication materials e.g. change stories, through AA systems (e.g. annual reports).  Identify external opportunities to showcase work strategically to targeted stakeholders.
  • Develop key communications materials (online and offline) to promote GP amongst identified partners in Bangladesh and beyond; Develop factsheets, success stories and lessons learnt.


Relationships

S/he will report to Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh.


Expected Deliverables

  • S/he has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers in the team, strategic and organisational priority team and project management team.
  • S/he will also Maintain liaison and networking in ActionAid International / Federation.


Required Educational Qualification and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field.
  • Training on program management and line management.
  • At least 6 years of experience in the field of programme management, development cooperation, youth programmes & campaigns preferably with an international, multilateral or public organization.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in international development programming, planning, delivering, report writing.
  • Past experience in resource mobilisation and networking is essential.

 

Required Competencies

Desirable 

  • Youth Rights Programming, community mobilization of young people
  • Design and delivery of programs/participatory training
  • Experience in the field of facilitation and training content development/delivery

 

General

  • Experience of working on capacity building of civil society organizations;
  • Written, typing and communication skills in Bangla and English;
  • Demonstrated experience of working with young people;
  • In depth knowledge of HRBA and gender based programming; and
  • Past experience in living and working in rural areas would be an advantage;
  • Willingness to undertake frequent field visits;
