Published by Actionaid

In honour of Global Humanitarian Day, ActionAid Bangladesh’s SASA! Together team organised a Chinlone Tournament at Camps 26 and 27, gathering stakeholders, activists, and community members in a show of unity and commitment to preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The event, began at 2:00 pm with recognition to the ongoing efforts of SASA! Together activists in promoting GBV awareness and prevention within their communities.

Several esteemed guests attended, including the Camp-in-Charge (CiC), Assistant Camp-in-Charge (ACiC), SASA together focal of UNHCR, and the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Inspector, each offering words of encouragement. The Camp-in-Charge (CiC) emphasised the importance of community-led sports events for mental and physical well-being, urging more frequent tournaments for the youth in Rohingya camps to build resilience and unity. The Assistant Camp-in-Charge (ACiC) highlighted sports as a unifying force and encouraged more activities to create a peaceful, healthy environment. The Armed Police Battalion (APBN) Inspector pledged ongoing support for initiatives that promote positive youth engagement and safety.

The Chinlone matches were competitive, with SASA! Activists from Camps 26 and 27 displayed their skills and teamwork. The event embodied SASA! Together values, fostering sportsmanship and collaboration while strengthening the community’s resolve to address GBV through unity and positive social engagement.
